Our Story

Over 30 Years Of Excellence

Thirty plus years, a couple of name changes, but our core values have never faltered. We take pride in the way that we handle every client, as we like to make them feel welcomed and valued within our company. In fact, we like to think of them more as an extension of our family, as we work together, we want to learn as much about them as we can. Whether it is balancing books or processing a return, we want to ensure our clients are taken care of and reassure that notion with the proper knowledge and the excellence they are promised.

In 1997 John Shelton Jr., Greg's father, purchased his public practice from an existing CPA that he had worked under. The Southern Methodist University alumni, John, had been in private practice prior to the purchase for well over 30 years. Operating out of Irving, TX, he always had his eye out for his client's best interests, and amazing quality that he had passed down to his son, Greg. Greg would then join his father in 2002, focusing on Accounting and Payroll, Individual, Corporate, Partnership, Trust, and Estate Taxes at both the Federal and State level. The two of them were able to take their strong base, and slowly grow it over time. In 2012, John stepped down from running the company, and passed on the reigns to Greg. John would stay on for a few more years, helping behind the scenes, until he ultimately retired in 2020.

Greg graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2002 with a BBA in Accounting. He took on the responsibility of running his father's company and ran it successfully for several years. In late 2019, he decided to create Shelton Inc to show that he was now at the ship's helm. In 2020, Covid-19 crippled our country and our business. However, Shelton Inc persevered through and continued to grow. In early 2020, Greg would partner with Dave Ramsey and become a Ramsey Trusted Tax Specialist for the Fort Worth area. With growth in new opportunities, he decided to grow the infrastructure with new family members. We are excited to see what the future holds for Shelton Inc, and our growing family.

Meet Gregory Shelton

Greg aka “G” was born and raised in Irving, TX. He has six philosophies in life, perseverance, transparency, honesty, efficiency, relentlessness, and diligence. That is what he feels is owed to every return, every set of books being processed, every payroll being processed, and every client he helps. Whether it's dealing with reconciliation, IRS notices, or a complex return, his focus is to have the client's best interest in mind and achieving the best possible outcome for them. While doing all of that he still finds time on the side to be a Tax Expert/Lead with Intuit's Turbo Tax. And when he has the spare time available, his favorite thing to do is to go camping in his 5th Wheel and relax out in the wilderness with his family and two fur babies.

Meet Gregory Shelton

Becky was born and raised in Ballinger, Texas, and moved to the DFW in 2004. She has 17 years of bookkeeping and tax experience under her belt. She has excellent attention to detail, loves to organize, is very persistent, and does her due diligence. This small-town girl adores her fur babies and loves all her other children too. In her spare time, she loves to watch movies, go RV camping, takes care of her people, and enjoy some authentic Cajun and German cuisine.

Nikki Masga is our multi-tasking warrior. She enjoys challenging accounts that rely on her attention to detail and project management. She earned her associates degree in 2015, and has since built her professional career as an executive assistant and accounting professional in the marketing, media, and printing industry. Her big dreams began small as an island girl hailing from the tiny island of Guam. She spends her free time cooking island cuisine, and being the best sports mom in Texas!

Meet Shanna Schaaf

Shanna Schaaf is a bookkeeping caretaker at Shelton-Inc. Her primary goal is to ensure client care, accuracy, and data entry reliability. She comes from a background of bookkeeping, retail management, and hospitality. When she is not busy solving number puzzles at Shelton-Inc, she enjoys being mediocre at golf and passionately rating local Thai restaurants on Google.
